Grown up in the state Gujarat, to an upper middle class family and a single child, extra curriculars and culture a state known for its vibrant culture, arts, hobbies and creativity was never a stranger to me. I found joy in all the extra pursuits which shaped my thought processes. My journey with words began long before I acknowledged it. Somewhere flipping through the pages of Harry Potter, which was the first novel series I read, something clicked. Words became the way I communicated my thoughts with the world, words became my anchor. That instinct for expression stayed with me, even as I chose a more technical path early in my career.
I started out as a Software Developer. The structure and logic of it challenged me, but it never lit me up. In fact, what always lit me was the rush of an idea, the words in a message, the strategy behind a campaign. I realized I was more drawn to the art of storytelling than the architecture of code. This shift in passion led me to marketing and advertising, where every concept has a purpose and every word has weight.
Apart from my love for writing, I’ve also spent years training in Kathak. Whether on stage or on screen, I’ve always been amazed by the power of stories to move people. Branding, in many ways, is no different. It’s another form of performance. Another kind of poetry.
Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.
-Pablo Picasso
This blog, Brand Compass, is where all of these interests meet. It’s my space to share what excites me about the world of brands starting from iconic campaigns that shaped generations to the clever subtleties of today’s marketing trends. I’ve always been fascinated by how certain phrases stay with us. A tune like Washing Powder Nirma. A tagline like Think Different. A moment like the first time you saw the Macintosh ad. These are more than ads. They are memory triggers. They are cultural landmarks.
Branding is not just business. It is emotion, timing, psychology, and language all working together. The way a brand positions itself, the way it speaks to its audience, and the feeling it leaves behind is a craft I’m constantly exploring. Through Brand Compass, I aim to study these stories, decode what makes them successful and share them with anyone who believes that behind every brand, there is a story worth telling.
This blog is for the curious. The creatives. The ones who read between the lines and see the strategy behind the slogan. It is a personal journey, but it’s also an open one. I write to share what I discover and to offer something that might just shift how you think the next time you see an ad or hear a tagline.
A passionate reader, writer, and explorer of all things creative, I’ve always been fascinated by how words can shape perceptions, spark emotions, and tell stories that stay with us. With a love for history and an artistic soul (you’ll often find me practicing Kathak!), I dive into the world of branding not just as a trend-watcher, but as a storyteller.
Brand Compass is my space to explore the narratives behind iconic labels, decode what makes a brand human, and guide readers through the emotional power of storytelling in the branding world.
